Shane Symolon, Worship Leader
PBC is thrilled to welcome Shane Symolon as our new worship leader. Shane is a current Dallas Seminary student pursing a Masters in Theology Degree with an emphasis in pastoral ministry. He has previous experience as a worship leader at Valley Church in South Hadley, MA where he was responsible for all aspects of planning, preparing, and leading the weekly worship services.
Since trusting in Christ as his Savior after college in 2007, Shane has had a burning fire to proclaim the gospel. Shane says, “I found that fire burned especially hot when serving in the local church as a worship leader.” After careful prayer with his wife, Cheryl, they came to believe that God called him to church ministry because of his spiritual gifts, unique background, and passion for serving the local body of believers.
“Worship is the continuous outpouring in all that we do and all that we are in light of our God. In other words we continuously love God in our minds, hearts, and actions 24 hours a day - 7 days a week. We worship God at our jobs during the week, we worship Him in the way we interact with our families at home, and we even worship Him on Sunday through music, prayer, preaching and communion. Corporate worship should not solely be about seeking some kind of emotional experience, nor should believers be looking for a dry reiteration of doctrine, rather I believe music is a special gift by God in which we can sing what words alone cannot say.” – Shane Symolon
Shane and Cheryl met when they attended James Madison University. They married in 2008 and moved to Massachusetts so that he could take a job as a TV reporter in Springfield while Cheryl continued her career as an elementary school teacher. They moved to Dallas in 2011 to begin training for ministry at DTS. Cheryl serves on the board of the Seminary Wives in Ministry organization that supports and equips seminary wives at DTS. She has a deep love for bible study with other women. The Symolons had a baby boy, Ethan, on April 26, 2013.
The Worship Leader is responsible for leading and encouraging the congregation in the worship of God through music, scripture reading, and associated arts. He coordinates ministry with other staff, elders, worship ministry leaders, as well as church members and regular attenders. Click here to download a complete job description.
