Life Connection Classes

Join one of our Life Connection Classes this Sunday at 9:30am to help you mature in your relationship with Jesus Christ in the context of authentic relationships and open discussions about God, His Word and His world.  Choose from a wide array of classes that normally run 8 weeks each. Classes are taught with the authority of the Bible, but vary in format from Bible book studies (i.e. Genesis, Matthew, etc.), topical subjects (ex. Parenting, God’s Will, etc.), and special equipping classes (ex. discipleship, evangelism).

Following is a list of our new Life Connection Classes beginning Sunday August 29:

“Modern Parables” with Mike Busch

Modern Parables” is a series of short films of the parables in a modern context to re-create the emotional, intellectual, and spiritual impact of the original parables. Through the films and the class discussion, we will seek to re-create the emotional immediacy that Jesus’ 1st-century audiences felt when hearing the parables. There is a strong focus on application and how the parables relate to our daily lives. (Room 203)

“Amos, Shepherd in the Lion's Service” with Robert Matthews

When God's people disobey Him, He disciplines them. God's people Israel disrespected and disobeyed Him many times when they inhabited the Promised Land. In this prophet's writing we get a sobering glimpse of how God disciplines His people. Amos was a poor shepherd who God called to warn the people of Israel that their neglect and exploitation of the poor among them, while they professed to be following the Lord, was bringing about severe discipline from their loving God . Parallels to the Church of today abound. Come join us for this look at the culture and history of Israel to learn how to apply it to our situation today. (Fellowship Hall)

“Parenting: Discipling our Children Through the Years” with Bill and Paige Frome

Raising children bring many joys: first steps, new activities, sharing days together, and seeing our children grow up. It also brings challenges: They change so much, where do I focus my efforts? What are clear goals for the various ages/stages of parenting? How do I train my children not only to obedience, but train their heart? How do I reduce conflict and increase harmony in our home? Whether you have children Early years (0 to 5), Middle Years (6 to 12), or Adolescent (12+), please join us as we learn principles that apply across ages and focus on how to disciple our children and enjoy these days that pass so quickly. (Room 202)
