In a Dallas Morning News article last week concerning the collective attempts to slow the COVID-19 virus, Dr. Philip Huang, Dallas County Health Director, said, “This is what we’re all trying to address and keep death down as much as we can.” The significant changes of physical distancing we have made to limit the spread of coronavirus, flatten the curve, have made a difference, and saved lives. But here’s the reality – everyone who survives the coronavirus will eventually die of something else or some other cause. So what you believe about the resurrection really matters. Eventually.
There is no reason to believe that the body and soul will continue to exist at some point in the future, unless there is reason to believe that the power of death has been defeated. That is precisely what the Bible states—death has been conquered by the resurrecting power of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:20–22). The resurrection of Jesus from the dead reveals the power of God over all life – including your life.
