Following Jesus Like His Mother
The Lord Jesus Christ consistently and dramatically uses godly women in our lives to point us to Him and help us faithfully follow Him. Listed among the great women of faith in the Old Testament (Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-38), Mary, the mother of Jesus, stands out as perhaps the greatest example of discipleship in the New Testament. Her unwavering belief in Jesus finds its climax when she is numbered among his first post-ascension followers in Acts 1:14. She gave up everything for the sake of her son, the Son of God.
While many have overstated the Virgin Mary’s role as the Mother of God, others of us have overlooked her as a great example of a godly example and mother.
